This Code was formulated by China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited and China Construction Steel Structure Corp.Ltd.jointly with organizations concerned according to the requirements of Document JIANBIAO ［2007］ NO.125 issued by Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People′s Republic of China (MOHURD)-"Notice on Printing the Development and Revision Plan (the First Batch) of National Engineering Construction Standards and Codes in 2007".

This Code is a general technical standard for the construction of steel structures;it provides basic requirements for the construction of steel structures and its process control and is regarded as the basis to formulate and revise relevant specialized standards.During the process of formulating this Code,the drafting group conducted extensive investigation,summarized the experiences in the construction of steel structures over decades,referred to relevant foreign standards,carried out monographic studies,extensively asked for the opinions of organizations concerned and experts in various ways,conducted repeated discussion,coordination and modification on the major issues,and finalized this Code through review.

This Code comprises 16 chapters,including general provisions,terms and symbols,basic requirements,design of construction stage,materials,welding,connecting of fasteners,processing of steel parts and components,assembling and processing of members,test assembling of steel structures,installation of steel structures,profiled metal plate,coating,construction survey,construction monitoring,construction safety and environmental protection.

The provisions printed in bold type in this Code are compulsory ones and must be enforced strictly.

Announcement on Publishing the National Standard Code for Construction of Steel Structures

Code for Construction of Steel Structures has been approved as a national standard with a serial number of GB 50755-2012 and shall be implemented from August 1,2012.Thereinto,Articles 11.2.4 and 11.2.6 are compulsory provisions and must be enforced strictly.

Authorized by the Standard Rating Research Institute of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China,this Code is published by China Architecture&Building Press.
